Applied Gravity
Research
Rigorous, methodical, and unnecessarily serious study of ordinary human hobbies, professions, and pursuits.

Institutional Mandate
The ordinary deserves a more serious explanation.
Applied Gravity Research is an independent institution devoted to the formal investigation of familiar human pursuits. Our researchers examine weightlifting, cycling, pickleball, and related activities with the procedural gravity normally reserved for matters of lasting scientific consequence.
We document the forces at work, isolate the variables under discussion, and issue findings of exceptional precision concerning facts participants already suspected.
Our methods are disciplined. Our terminology is exact. Our conclusions remain fully subject to gravity.
The Founding Departments
Three disciplines. One unwavering commitment to avoid informal explanation.
Department WGT
Controlled Mass Relocation
Investigating the deliberate movement of resistant objects, the repeated discovery that heavier objects are more difficult to lift, and the role of confidence where evidence remains limited.
Primary field: Weightlifting
Department CYC
Bilateral Propulsive Mechanics
Examining rotational effort, environmental resistance, equipment acquisition, route optimism, and the persistent failure of downhill momentum to remain available during ascent.
Primary field: Cycling
Department PKL
Perforated Sphere Dynamics
Studying court geometry, reaction time, trajectory, wind behavior, net interference, and the recurring belief that enthusiasm may alter established physical law.
Primary field: Pickleball
Selected Preliminary Findings
Results obtained under conditions of ordinary participation.
Increasing barbell mass increased lifting difficulty. Department of Controlled Mass Relocation
Wind remained statistically independent of rider preference. Department of Bilateral Propulsive Mechanics
Net contact reduced forward progress. Department of Perforated Sphere Dynamics
Confidence routinely exceeded available evidence. Cross-departmental observation

Independent inquiry into ordinary human effort.
A fictional institution. The gravity is real.
